Event: Perth – Chained to the Sky by John Kaye, March 18-28

The Australian creative is bringing street art to another level

Posted by

Australian artist John Kaye isn’t the kind to be put off by a challenge. The size of some of his wall paintings alone prove he is in it for the long haul—not to mention the creativity behind each design. Added to this is the occasional day spent painting outside in 42 degree heat under the not-so-forgiving Perth sun, so it’s fair to say he’s committed to what he does.

Kaye’s upcoming exhibition Chained to the Sky features a series of paintings that focus on “beauty and chaos”, meshing Kaye’s personal images with stark colours and shapes. The art comes from his residency at The Butcher Shop, and you can tell the artist has been putting in work.

It’s the first show to come out of their new residency program, and will feature music from Fungle Club. Oh, and did we mention beer? Because there will be beer from the Feral Brewing Company, with the event set to go late into the night.

If you can’t make it, make sure you still check out the rest of Kaye’s art here.
