Creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière recently announced where his next cruise collection show would be held on May 14. With a post on Instagram, the fashion genius revealed the foliage-filled location would be the beautiful Miho Museum.

The Miho Museum is an incredible feat in architectural design. The museum sits nestled deep in the forested hills near the town of Shigaraki in Japan. Miho was the dream of one of Japan’s wealthiest women—Mihoko Koyama commissioned architect I.M. Pei to design the museum, which was affectionately referred to as “Shangri-La” on account of its grandeur.

Pei is most renowned for his design of the pyramid reception hall of the Louvre in France. The roof of Miho is made of glass and steel, while the floor and walls of both the interior and exterior are made of the same beige limestone Pei used in the reception hall of the Louvre. Carved directly out of the rocky mountaintop, around three-quarters of the Miho building are situated underground. Here’s hoping the show involves the suspension bridge at Miho, models strutting across a sea of green leaves in the hills of Japan.

The setting marries nicely with Vuitton’s Fall 2017 show, which was held at the Louvre reception itself, so although both strikingly different locations, there is a certain synchronicity in Nicolas Ghesquière’s creative choices.
