Adult Swim has always worn their demographic of stoners, paranoid insomniacs and assorted TV creeps on their sleeve. Because of this, they’ve been able to take many liberties with their scheduling over the years. They were one of the first media networks to run Tommy Wiseau’s The Room with minimal context, unnerving many on April Fool’s Days year after year since 2009. But over the last year or so, they stepped up their game thanks to filmmakers Alan Resnick and Ben O’Brien, whose unsettling infomercials, along with the works of other subversive comedians, would run unexpectedly during the channel’s earliest hours.

You might recall that last month, Casper Kelly’s sitcom intro Too Many Cooks hit internet prominence after airing on da Swim; causing equal discomfort and hilarity in a quintessentially Adult Swim cocktail of simultaneously feeling as though you were in on the joke and completely removed from any passage of comprehension.

Well, prepare to have your mental parameters for weird obliterated by ‘Unedited Footage of a Bear’. This is so densely outlandish and packed with so many striking film techniques that detailing any of them here would simply defeat the horrifying thrill of watching the 11-minute clip. Seriously, I could try and offer you my interpretation of what I just watched, but I would just prefer it if you sat there and tried to take it in. I had to go and take a break at the six minute mark because it was just too much odd (and I’ve been swallowing whatever crap Adult Swim peddles to me since 2009). Fun fact though, there isn’t any duplication techniques used during the doppelgänger sequences. Those are real-life twins Kerry and Jacqueline Donelli, which perhaps begins to explain why Jacqueline screams ‘Kerry!’ over and over at one point.

I really don’t know how they’re going to top this one except with maybe something a bit longer and more fleshed out. Really, an Adult Swim foray into an American Horror Story style series directed by these guys for dawn-creeping screen stoners would honestly be pretty great. Cross them fingers.
