For a city of its size, Adelaide houses some ridiculously talented people. Case in point is visual artist, Ruby Chew.

A recent honours graduate of the Adelaide Central School of Art, Ruby’s portraits deal with ideas of identity and the construction of image. Her work discusses the role of adornment, such as make up and body modifications, as a means of expression. Working predominantly with oil paint, Ruby’s work draws you in to explore a world of unique individuals, revealing their inner worlds and identities.

Currently preparing for her second solo show, which will be at Hill Smith Gallery in November, you can follow Ruby’s progress over on Instagram at @rubychewart, Facebook and also her blog.
