Sam Octigan and Doug Aldrich are two young artists from opposite ends of the world, yet they share a common path leading to their creative outlets. Their works share similar visual theories, yet contrasting subject matters and have been brought together through a love of art, music and the city of New York. With ‘Crossing Lines’ they seek to create personal and collaborative work celebrating their similarities and highlighting their differences.

Doug’s work speaks of a world over-saturated with consumerism and its underlying techniques of marketing. It’s a common emotion to feel disillusioned by what’s worth our attention and their larger schemes to take advantage of our instinctive personalities. The work focuses on the ironies and smoke screens placed before us that not everyone takes the time to acknowledge. Using subtle, humorous narrative and vibrant, graphic colors, his work creates a visually appealing sense for the commonly offensive feeling of disillusionment.

Sam’s work is a move away from his familiar acrylic and oil on canvas and see’s him exploring familiar content and subjects with works on paper. Moving back to a tried and true medium with a new perspective, his work looks at merging the figurative with the abstract through several visually engaging drawings. Crossing lines visually, personally and geographically.

One night only, Thursday the 11th of April, 6-9pm at 319 Sholes Street, Brooklyn NY 11206
