Kevin Cyr: In Praise of Rust

I remember this one time when a friend of mine brought a fake ecko tee back from Vietnam with pictures of graffed vans on it. I thought it was the shittest thing ever. Kevin Cyr’s latest series of paintings, In Praise of Rust, is impressive. His depictions of these ageing, rusty vans complete with dints, patchy paint and graff scrawled all over them is a great portrait of a fascinating canvas. Perhaps these vans are more synonymous with NYC’s graff culture, but it’s a shame it never really filtered down to Australian cities. Check all of Cyr’s work in the gallery.
