Legendary Graffiti Writers in ‘The Warriors’
Cinephiles get busy
Posted By Sean Irving | 23-Jun-2012Walter Hill’s ’79 film ‘The Warriors’ has always held a particular place in popular culture – if not just for a plot that revolves solely around fights, girls, and mates. The whole film is essentially adolescent daydreaming on the big screen.
However the film also picks up certain cultural elements of that time period in New York City, especially in and around the Subway system where a lot of the film was shot. Now thanks to some eagle eyed fans over at a Warriors fan forum (those exist) we’ve got a definitive record of all the writers whose work incidentally appeared in the film. Check the gallery for some vintage Seventies New York goodness, featuring Iz the Wiz, Spear, Kado, and Nic 707.
