As part of the company’s global ONE OBSESSION campaign that invites people around the world to join the #LiveYours movement – fuelling passion rooted in sport – LA will be home to one of three Oakley in Residence hubs across the world. London will see a similar hub for cycling open doors in May, and July will mark the opening of a baseball space for those in New York.

Local skate legend and ONE OBSESSION campaigner, Eric Koston, inspired the conception of the LA hub – part skatepark, part creative space. The venue will be an epicentre for skate-lovers across the city. Running from April 24 through til May 10, Oakley in Residence: Los Angeles will be host to a variety of weekly scheduled workshops, exhibitions, athlete meet-ups, skate sessions and film screenings – all aiding in the cultivation of a passion for skate culture and creativity.

As part of the workshops, Oakley teamed up with local non-profit, Bridge to Skate – an organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of youth by “creating dynamic new paths to self-confidence, personal empowerment and responsibility for each other and their communities”. Oakley and Bridge to Skate will team up to organise a skate clinic with pro athletes and an art workshop which recycles old decks and repurposes them as canvases.

From April 24, local skate-art collective The Art Dump will host an exhibition at the space, with eight of the artists representing eight legendary skate spots around the city. Each of the artists will design a flag to represent their allocated skate spots, and a dedicated fanzine will help map each of the locations. The featured artists for the project include Andy Jenkins, Andy Mueller, Jeremy Carnahan, Eric Anthony, Chris Waycott, Carlos Gutierrez, Nate Hooper and Nick Zegel.

Starting May 1, as tribute to focal skate spots and photography culture, local skate photographer Atiba Jefferson will curate a week-long exhibition at the space.

Located at 7763 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, the venue will be open daily from 11am – 8pm.
