Dutch artist Piet Janssen, better known as Parra, is certainly recognised for his oddly sexy cartoon style characters, and this was showcased yet again in his latest solo show And wait for something to happen in Cologne, Germany. While the exhibition at the Ruttkowski;68 gallery featured a lot of familiar imagery, Parra experimented with slightly new compositions, techniques and even dabbled in porcelain, with a couple ceramic sculpture and vase adaptations also on show. It wasn’t too far of a departure though, with the voluptuous female figure featuring very heavily throughout the series of works. Check out some of the images from the October 4 opening event above.
