Photography: New York Storefronts
The old 'Ma & Pa' neighbourhood stores of NYC are quickly disappearing—James and Karla Murray set out to document the old art deco architecture before they're gone for good.
Posted By Meisy Cheong | 5-Mar-2012Published in 2009, James and Karla Murray’s rad book, New York Storefronts, documents the old school neighbourhood stores in NYC, from bicycle repair shops to delicatessens, candy stores, record shops, barbers, bakeries, bookshops, butchers, cafes, diners and more. With the onset of redevelopment and urban planning, many of these ‘Mom & Pop’ stores are disappearing which is such a shame—buildings sure as shit aren’t made like this any more. See more over atJames and Karla’s website or pick up the book through Amazon.
