Scott Kelly is one of the subjects of a NASA experiment, in which he spends one year hanging out (and… you know… collecting scientific data that is important to future exploration of our solar system) at the International Space Station. As you can imagine, his life for the duration of the experiment is POV Google Earth, which gives him some leverage for some amazing photos. Kelly took a series of 17 breathtaking photographs during a single pass over Australia, with the images looking more like the immediate effect of dipping 10 used paintbrushes into a bucket of water than photographs of our land. It kinda makes me want to say “fuck this, I’m becoming an astronaut”, but I think it takes more than just a keen eye for photography and a curiosity to float to become an astronaut (sorry, heart).
