The Forty-Deuce: The Times Square Photographs of Bill Butterworth, 1983-1984
The Glitz, Glam & Grunge Of Mid-Eighties New York Through The Eyes Of Bill Butterworth
Posted By Pj Smith | 5-Jun-2012New York in the ’80s, what a place it would have been, a time when the city truly never slept and was the epicentre of many bourgeoning movements that we all take for granted today. The Forty-Deuce, published by Powerhouse Books and featuring the photos of Bill Butterworth, focuses on the photographer’s work to come out of ’83 and ’84. The decadent ’80s were in full swing and the broad range of characters populating NY during this period all seem to be on show with Bill snapping b-boys, pimps, strippers, socialites, club kids and more. The Forty-Deuce will be available from July 1.
