I recently filmed this piece on Melbourne-based illustrator/artist Sam Octigan. The good people at ACCLAIM also shot him through some q’s to see where he’s at since they last touched base with him in their first interview with him a couple of months back. Enjoy.

We spoke with you not long ago for our feature on you, what’s been going on since then?

Working a lot, touring with Iron Mind, moved to Brunswick and bought my first houseplant not long ago.

I’m told you’re also currently in the States. What has been the plan over there? Any thoughts on relocating?

Currently I’m just here for a month working on a few projects and catching up with friends in NYC and San Fran. Checking it all out, we’ll see how the cards fall but I plan on spending an extended period overseas, either back in Paris or New York eventually.

What sorts of things have been inspiring you lately?

I gotta say, I’ve definitely been picking up on that energy everyone talks about in NYC. I just checked out the latest Kris Kuksi exhibit at Joshua Liner Gallery, John Chamberlain at the Guggenheim, saw Take Offense crush in Bushwick, and spent an afternoon with friends talking in Prospect Park.

What’s next for Sam Octigan?

Once I’m back on home turf, a new studio space in Melbourne CBD, lots more work, a solo show, plus a new record to write with my brothers in Iron Mind.

Tell me about the beat you selected, any special reason why?

Well, Mike and I had been talking about doing something like this together for a while. I regularly throw Nick’s soundcloud on while I’m working, so one day it just clicked how perfect this particular track would be for this kind of project.
