Located in Newham, the London Pleasure Gardens have unveiled artwork from the likes of California’s Shepard Fairey and several other artists including Ron English, Risk and Trustocorp. Created as a new event space, the garden’s central piece is Fairey’s 10-storey high mural, featuring a megaphone telling its audience to “amplify your voice”. Just in time for the 2012 London Olympics, the London Pleasure Gardens director, Garfield Hackett, stated that, “The pleasure gardens of old showed the positive effect that sharing in art and culture can have on London. We can’t wait for people to join us here to see what we’re creating.” Watch the vid above to get some of Fairey’s insights into his LPG mural, one of the biggest he and his crew have created.
