The internet has desensitised me to graffiti videos in the same way that it’s robbed me of my ability to maintain a conversation for more than 45 seconds without checking my phone. But for every slick clip of a dude painting a legal wall with 50,000 colours paired with crazy edits and a dubstep soundtrack, or crazy European subway footage of a wholecar backjump set to a looped 10 second sample of Prodigy’s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’ that looks like was filmed during the Cold War, there’s a video that stops me in my tracks.

Shane Patrick Ford’s portrait of ELMER LD in Detroit is one of those video. I could talk about how it’s not just a documentation of paint on walls, but an insight in the specific mania that drives prolific street bombers – or even how it’s a portrait that speaks of the larger public crisis that’s going down in Detroit right now. But really, you should just watch the video. At 15 mintues, it’s pretty lengthy, but it’s absolutely worth your time.

Now that my sincerity rant is out of  the way for the day I’m going to go back to making fun of other bloggers and trying to work thinly veiled criticisms of my ex’s into my copy.
