French artist FUZI-UVTPK‘s tattoos are so sought after that on the day Complex visited him in New York to film this video, he was booked to tattoo for more than eight hours straight. People had travelled from across the country just to get a piece of art from this man’s needle.

FUZI (which is a homonym for ‘gun’) is known for his self-taught aesthetic, which he calls “Ignorant Style.” Although now his list of clients includes Diplo, Justice, Kavinsky, and Scarlett Johansson to name a few, the artist grew up decorating the streets of France with his crew UVTPK and never really thought that he’d blow up so much. He still maintains certain links to his graff past, aside from the aesthetic, FUZI loves to give people tattoos in unconventional places like off-limits subway tunnels or art galleries.

Complex spoke with FUZI at Muddguts Gallery in Brooklyn, where he was opening a show of graphics on paper and giving tattoos to his many fans. FUZI talks about his art and how he rose to international fame.
