A trailer has finally been leaked for the final chapter of the Tolkien/Jackson saga, and it may well have succeeded in reviving much of Middle Earth’s lost enthusiasm.

Speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego earlier this month, director Peter Jackson spoke of how the third instalment of ‘The Hobbit’ would be much darker than the previous two films, even going so far as to draw comparisons with his previous (and let’s be honest, way better) first novel adaptation.

Meanwhile, Tolkien fans the world over take a deep sigh of relief after enduring Jackson’s two previous attempts which spent more time focusing on Legolas’s contact lenses, and listening to dwarves sing than actually getting important shit done, like decapitating orc’s and slaying dragons.

‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ is in cinemas this December, and here’s hoping it’s less of an attempt from Warner to squeeze pennies out of the franchise, and more of a kick-ass testament to one of the great fantasy authors of the 20th century.
