Vinny's Weekly Auto Dump

Posted on 2010-09-02 10:00 | Posted by Vinny Tang
oh yeh

Haven't been doing much car stuff in the last week, had a walk around in the sheds on the John's Rod and Custom property but alas didn't have my camera on me. They've got Model A bodies coming out of their asses, not to mention all the other goodies, those guys are sitting on a gold mine! I'll make sure I get some photos next time I'm up there.

The Melbourne Auto Salon was on last weekend, I didn't end up making it but it looks like there was a few interesting cars, the last few times I've went I've been bored to death with the quality of rides, but it looks like things might be shaping up for the better. Nicked these photos from this forum.

Now German tuning giants Brabus have released their new creation, the Brabus iBusiness. Based on a S-Class Mercedes, "ze Germans" have shoehorned a Maybach twin turbo V12 into the Merc as well as the usual Brabus treatment. What they've done though is slapped the car with a massive iStick, filling the custom interior with all things Apple, hence its namesake. A Mac Mini is attached to a fold-down 15 inch screen in the headline, as well as a pair of screens in the headrests no less. A pair of iPads in the rear allow back seat drivers to control all the multimedia gear and climate control, a top-of-the-range iPod Touch holds the music and they've also thrown in an iPhone for good measure. When you turn on the ignition Steve Jobs even pops up riding shotgun and gives you a wristie. More pics here.

I've been drooling over board track racers for the last few days, in like the 20's and 30's these racers were the extreme sport stars of their time, racing on oval/spherical tracks made from wooden planks, look more bad-ass than jumping off a bunch of stairs on a plank of wood right? Anyways if anyone knows of any collectors of these bikes in Melbourne or a company making replicas down here please let me know at vincent@acclaimmag.com.

I'm loving the amount of cool automotive viral video campaigns that have recently come out, especially the Swagger Wagon campaign and this new video from Ford. Dance Break!

Lastly, thought I'll give some love to one of my favorite car Tumblr blogs, Chromjuwelen. I've been addicted to Tumblr for a little while now (shameless plug for my one), and this one really brings the goods out everytime I log into my dashboard, saves me from lurking around a lot less sites everyday. Keep it up!
