OK so I got home last night in a tilted state, jumped onto the computer and just stared at Zhou Fan's artwork for about an hour straight while gremlins devoured my brain.
Here's what Zhou says is his inspiration for some of his crazy illustrations,
"A series of my paintings is based on dreams that I had as a child of many many jellyfish floating in the sky, some of which fell to the ground on parachures and became mushrooms. These dreams had a strong impact on me, and I remember them vividly. Somehow I feel that it is easier to focus on dreams than reality. In one particular painting, there is a boy crying because he keeps things within him, is easily sad, and he refuses to face reality."
This Chinese contemporary artist has long been in my "stuff to look at/watch when bent" folder for a while now (along with James Roper, Dalek and The Residents videos), but his art was extra awesome last night, so click on the gallery to enjoy some of Zhou's work!
