2 DAYS OF HIGH POWERED HIP HOP ACTION
PRESENTED BY CARRIAGEWORKS
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: NICK POWER aka B*BOY RELY
CarriageWorks’ PLATFORM 3 HIP-HOP FESTIVAL returns later this month with a 2-day celebration of everything hip hop. Now in its third year, PLATFORM 3 HIP-HOP FESTIVAL is established as an all-round showcase of the 5 elements of hip hop culture: DJs, MCs, beat boxers, breakers and graffiti artists from all over the country, all of which are coming together at CarriageWorks and turning the venue into a creative platform for the best emerging and established hip hop artists.
PLATFORM 3 HIP HOP FESTIVAL will celebrate the best in Australian hip-hop music, dance, art, film and hip hop theatre. The 2-day event will be retreat for all the hip-hop heads out there - the perfect place for enthusiasts to enjoy local talent, and a unique opportunity for the hip-hop virgins (those who still think it's all bling and grillz) to get involved and find out what it’s all about.
Nick Power, AKA B*Boy Rely, has been representing Australian hip hop for over fifteen years as a breakdancer, choreographer, teacher, producer, and artistic director. As Artistic Director of Platform Hip Hop Festival, Nick has fostered relationships with artists from all facets of the culture, working to develop an event with broad general appeal, while maintaining the essence of hip hop community. As a dancer, Nick has toured and performed with acts including Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC and the Resin Dogs; and large scale events such as the Sydney Festival, Big Day Out, and Splendour in the Grass.
It’s free entry on Saturday during the day; but grab yourselves a ticket for a mere $18 to catch the night-time festivities of talented b-boys and b-girls in hip hop theatre performances and break-dancing battles. If the dance moves don’t do it for you, then you can choose to be a part of the audience suggesting random topics for some cool cats to spit spontaneous rhymes in an all-aussie all-hip-hop freestyle jam!
Tickets available at Ticketmaster.
