There’s no doubt that film and the spreading of skate videos has been instrumental in pushing skate culture. Having been involved with the scene for decades both Lance Mountain and Eric Koston have had the opportunity to see the evolution of the sport, particularly in relation to introduction of the skate vid in the 1980s, and its rapid rise in popularity in the ’80s. Recounting what they love about skate films, it’s obvious that a skater’s success can very closely be attributed to the documentation and spread of his performance on a global stage.
