Interview By Batt Moe

Dee & Ricky are the twin brothers that have been making a buzz internationally with their unique accessories and signature style.  Over the last few years these guys have been behind a range of cult items which have been seen everywhere from Marc Jacob runways to album covers.Lego pendants and Starter jacket duffle bags are just the beginning for the duo hailed by many of today’s trendsetters as the future of fashion.

I had a quick Q&A with Ricky over email to see what’s up...

Introduce yourself to the people who don't know you?

I’m Ricky half of artist extraordinaires Dee & Ricky we make random stuff pertaining to art, fashion and music.  We have no limits; we fit ourselves into any groove.

Where will the Dee & Ricky brand be in 2010?

On everybody... If you‘d asked us 50 years ago I would’ve said in a flying car.

How long does the process from your initial thought to the finished product usually take to complete?

Well it depends on what it’s for, for example I did a light bulb design for a marketing company. I had the idea pictured in my head and it took about an hour to do but if its something abstract it can take a few hours, like the Pac Man.

It took a while to figure out how to get that guy shaped right. After that we did the ghost who didn’t take long to complete but it really depends to the person who works on it (Ricky or Dee), so some stuff is a sinch.

How much time do you dedicate to creating the made to order accessories each week?

It really depends on the orders we get, but I’d say between 15 and 24 hours a week. Between those times we always have meetings in the city, events to hit and other random jobs we manage to get ourselves into.

You have been hailed by some as the future of high-end fashion; where do you see it in 10 years?

Oh really? (chuckles) I see it as ready to wear but since we don’t limit ourselves, we're in a position to be anywhere. Only time will tell…

What has been your biggest highlight from the last decade?

Seeing how time flies! From when we were young to doing what we do now and hearing people tell us that we won't amount to anything. Working and meeting influential folks but also watching who you work with. That’s a big experience, good or bad.
