Kicking off this year’s Sydney Mardi Gras Festival, Performance Space and Carriageworks are bringing back Day For Night, the warehouse party/exhibition which showcases a roster of some of the biggest names in the local and international LGBT art worlds.

Beginning with a dance party on Friday the 20th of February, acts will exhibit into the weekend (Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd), allowing concepts established the night before to be developed and explored. The installations will be soundtracked by electro duo Stereogamous made up of Australian dance legend Paul Mac and Johnny Seymour (pictured).

Jeff Khan, creative director of Performance Space and event curator describes Day For Night as a “Truly unique combination of two of the most exciting aspects of the queer community in Sydney – the incredible party and music culture that happens here, and the extremely high quality of work that’s produced by our queer artists,” Going on to explain–”It’s celebratory and energetic, but also brings new ideas about what queer bodies might be, and what makes queer space and time.”

2015’s line-up features a human petting zoo constructed by performance artist Betty Grumble, a vast labyrinth painted across the floor of Carriageworks by NELL and an intensive voguing class run by Bhenji Ra and the Pioneers.

Find Day for Night’s full line-up on the Performance Space website as well as ticketing info for the warehouse party component of the event.
