Event: Loved But Not Lost
Loved But Not Lost is a new exhibition showcasing over 50 rare t-shirt graphics, opening tomorrow night at The Tate@The Toxteth1-May-2012
As far back as the early 50’s, Miami based Tropix Togs used aquired lisencing rights from Disney to screen print graphic adorned garments featuring Mickey Mouse and Davey Crocket. This moment in fashion history paved the way for a desire to use T-shirt graphics to express Individuality.
T-shirts are a part of our everyday, their graphics are reflections of certain periods in time and have power to unlock lost memories. For these contributors discarding a stained, shredded moth eaten piece of fabric with a cracked graphic is an emotional parting. For them it is often easier to ignore its age by preserving it in a bottom drawer, than potentially lose the memories it holds.
‘Loved But Not Lost’ will showcase over 50 rare t-shirts loaned for display from some of Sydney’s most enthusiastic collectors including Marty Routledge, Chris Loutfy, Daniel Farrell, Numskull, 10K, Sami Stewart and James Jirat Patradoon.
