Touko Laaksonen, better known as Tom of Finland, was an artist renowned for his homoerotic fetish art and his influence on late twentieth century gay culture. The Finnish postal service, Itella Posti Oy, will be releasing a series of stamps featuring his iconic work in September.

Timo Berry, a graphic designer who helped select the art for the collection, commented on the content of the drawings: “the sheet portrays a sensual life force and being proud of oneself. There is never too much of that in this northern country.”

Sweden‘s gay rights must be rubbing off (pun totally intended) on Finland.
