This weekend, fans of  Tetris took the classic game to a whole new level. 29 floors up to be exact. Thanks to thousands of LED lights and some hardcore Tetris enthusiasts, the game was projected onto the sides of the 130-metre Cira Centre Tower in downtown Philadelphia. It’s not the first time this lucky building has got to participate in some 80s arcade fun, having hosted an equally giant game of Pong last year.

“This project began as a personal love letter to the games that I loved as a child”, the organiser, Frank Lee, told assembled onlookers.

Hundreds of Philly residents got to play their childhood favourite on the 9,000 squared metre screen, using joysticks to control the gigantic bricks and compete with players on the other side of the building.

The event, which is set to break at least one world record, is part of the annual Philadelphia Tech Week and is just in time for the 30th birthday of Tetris coming up later this year.
