If you want to be one of the first to test out Google Glass you’re going to have to take a number and get in line. And live in the US.

Google have announced that they’re moving out of the “project” phase and into a whole new testing cycle with their recently announced contest for Google Glass. Aimed at those not so entrenched in the tech field (aka real people), applicants need to tell Google what they would do if they had Google Glass for an opportunity to become a “Glass Explorer”.

For anyone who isn’t caught up on what the hell Google Glass is anyway, this revolutionary new technology is Google’s next step to becoming an extension of your mind. Serving as a digital personal assistant, the eyewear perches a tiny screen just above a person’s ordinary field of view. The device itself allows you to send messages, record video, take photo, engage in live video chat hangouts, search the web, check the weather, get directions, and seemingly a million other things, with more still to come, all through simple voice commands.

The video above is Google’s “How It Feels” explanation, giving you a first-person perspective of what it’s like to wear the device. It all looks pretty insanely amazing, but they’ve missed one vital part of the experience, namely how fucking mental you’ll look wearing one.
