We caught up with stunning 24-year-old fashion student Alana Raus, from Rio De Janiero, for our latest installment of Haute Thing. This girl has eclectic taste in fashion and dresses according to her mood – so she’ll forever have you on your toes. Alana likes her men scruffy, and is on an anti–board shorts rampage across Rio. Check the full interview below as she tells us her thoughts on the topic of men’s fashion.

What’s your name? Alana Oliveira Ruas.

How old are you? I’m 24 years old.

What kinda style do you like on guys? I like simple style on guys, but with at least some creativity. I like long messy hair, stubble etc.

What are some things guys should just never wear? I don’t like board shorts being worn during the day, to swim its ok, but not all the time like guys here in Rio… I hate it!

What are some current trends that you think guys need to ditch?  Neon Sneakers, Skinny Jeans and caps.

What are some things, in your opinion, that never get old in men’s fashion? Jeans, casual shirts and suits.

What do you think it says about a guy if he’s always in sneakers? Don’t you have another pair of shoes?

You meet a hot guy with bad dress sense. Deal breaker? No, I can try to help him to buy some nicer clothes.

Guy dresses really well, but still lives with his parents. Deal breaker? Yes.

Guy spends more money on clothes than you do. Deal breaker? No, that’s not a problem… we can go shopping together! It will be nice!

Who is a guy who you think personifies good style? Johnny Depp.

Groomed guys or scruffy guys, who do you prefer? Hmm I like them both, but I think scruffy guys catch my eye more.
