Haute Thing: Elle-May of My Love Life

Stylish babes tell us what they really think about men's style.

For your next fix of Haute Thing, we decided to keep it a little closer to home. So here’s Aussie gal, Elle-May Leckenby from our very own Sunshine Coast, proving you don’t need an exotic accent to be sexy. Here’s what she has to say about boys and all their styling selections.

What’s your name? Elle-May Leckenby

How old are you? 18

What kinda style do you like on guys?  Fresh and edgy. I love nicely slicked hair with plain but innovative clothes. I love it when guys dress in neutral, earthy colours, or if they do add colour, when it matches their eye or skin colour really well. I also love seeing really experimental modern fashions on guys, or really historical, as long as it coordinates well. Sometimes I wish we lived in the 1800s! I loved how conservative but detailed all the clothing was and all the men looked handsome.

What are some things guys should just never wear? Singlets when they go out. Sorry but I can’t handle them… I’d rather Crocs than a singlet.

What are some current trends that you think guys need to ditch?  It’s not really a trend but I don’t like chain necklaces on guys…or those saggy beanies that bop of the back of the head. Or un-buttoned tops over the top of another shirt… just putting it out there.

What are some things, in your opinion, that never get old in men’s fashion? Well-tailored suits, thick nice quality knit cardigans, rustic leather looking boots or lace-up shoes, plain long sleeve shirts, button-ups that match their colouring… there’s heaps!!

What do you think it says about a guy if he’s always in sneakers? He’s a personal trainer or always at the gym… nah, he probably just likes to have comfy shoes on.

You meet a hot guy with bad dress sense. Deal breaker? No way. It’s obviously attractive if they have a sense of creativity that shows through their attire, but if he has the foundation for it, the deal has not been broken, my friend.

Guy dresses really well, but still lives with his parents. Deal breaker?  No, as long as he shows initiative around the house… and he’s not pushing 30.

Guy spends more money on clothes than you do. Deal breaker? No, not unless they are spending more then they can afford.

Who is a guy who you think personifies good style? I don’t really have any guy in mind to pin point at the moment!

Groomed guys or scruffy guys, who do you prefer? I love scruffy guys that are really nice and don’t know or care that they are super attractive. Although being nicely groomed shows they have an eye for detail and that in itself I think is really appealing to girls.

Finish these sentences:

Every guy should own a good…well-tailored jacket. With pockets and nice buttons.

Camo print is…camouflaging if you live in the wild.

Guys who wear caps are…cool, when they are flipped.

On a first date a guy should wear…a really nice cologne.

Guys who wear luxury brands are…luxurious. Honestly, I really like the holiday luxury menswear with tropical prints and beiges, faded yellows and greens haha!

Graphic tshirts on guys are…good, only if the graphic is good.

Beards on guys are…manly, but I prefer none, or limited stubble.

Tattoos on guys are…personally I’m not a fan but I don’t hate them, I guess I don’t really think about them so I’ve never had an opinion on them.
