So in case you missed it, in the early hours of this morning, Brazil was knocked out of title contention in the race for world football supremacy. Despite the absence of captain, Thiago Silva due to suspension and star striker/poster-boy Neymar after a contentious collision resulting in a fractured vertebrae, the host nation remained confident.

Germany clearly had other plans and proceeded to take a mallet/butchers knife/chainsaw to not only the Brazilian defence, but so to the hearts of every Brazilian football supporter, and let’s be honest, that’s pretty much all of them. The 7 – 1 loss equals the greatest ever defeat of a Brazilan side since 1920 and appears to be more emotionally damaging than the worst break up of all time.

The majority of these images were probably taken around the 20th minute of the match where Germany netted 3 goals in less than 3 minutes with Miroslav Klose also scoring his 16th goal at a World Cup to move clear of the competition’s former all-time leading scorer, Ronaldo, who coincidentally, is also Brazilian (I mean comeonnnnn).

Other records set during the 90 minutes of Latin carnage included:

Heaviest World Cup semi-final defeat

Most goals conceded by Brazil at World Cup

Most goals scored against a World Cup host nation

Fastest four goals scored in World Cup history

Most goals scored in a World Cup semi-final
