32-year-old Jaycee Chan, real name Fang Zuming, could face up to three years in prison, or at worst, execution – depending on the charges. China Central Television (CCTV) reported that police arrested the son of the iconic Hong Kong actor and martial artist and found over 100 grams of marijuana in his Beijing home.

Jaycee Chan is best known for roles in Mulan and 2 Young – films popular in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. He was arrested with Taiwanese actor Ko Chen-tung and both tested positive for marijuana. CCTV also mentioned that the younger Chan could face charges including selling drugs, which can be an executable offence in China.

Ironically, Jackie Chan has been an anti-drugs spokesperson in China since 2009. Furthermore, he is a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and has ties to the ruling communist party. It seems unlikely that Jaycee Chan will face the most severe consequences, though it’s also unlikely he’ll get out of this one wholly unscathed by China’s hardline anti-drug stance.
