I remember watching The Room about a year ago and it still has me like “What the fuck?” If you don’t know, The Room is a 2003 film, often touted as “one of the worst movies ever made” but has become one of those cult flicks that you just have to see because it’s so confusingly terrible. The star and creator of the film is ethnically ambiguous and generally odd writer/director/actor Tommy Wiseau, who used $6 million of his own cash to create, promote and distribute the film internationally. And now, James Franco wants to portray him on the big screen. Of course.

Revealed by intimate pal Seth Rogen, Franco is set to step into Tommy’s boots in a film adaptation of co-star Greg Sestero’s memoir, The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside “The Room.”  Franco himself wrote about Wiseau in a review of the memoir for VICE last year: “He looks like he is from Bram Stoker’s Transylvania: ageless, muscled, sweet, and scary; he is part vampire, part Hollywood dreamer, part gangster, part Ed Wood, and super lonely.”

No word yet on the ‘when, how, what and who else’ of the film, but I’m sure it’ll be good. Or at least so-bad-it’s-good.
