We should hardly be surprised by now, but Kanye just keeps coming up with some of the most ridiculous quotes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an actual fan but even I can admit that for every three profound lines, there is something that makes you go, “What the actual fuck? No.”

Taking the Yeezus tour through New York recently, Kanye has been doing the rounds of the major radio stations NYC, with one of them being Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. Facing up against hosts DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and ever-the-instigator Charlamagne. Expectedly, Kanye drops a few golden quotes throughout the interview, but calling his wifey Kim Kardashian the modern Marilyn Monroe really takes the cake.

“I have a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, but actually I love them because they are empowering us. They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe, Kim is Marilyn Monroe. You know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial.”

Really, dude? Besides being busty and the constant center of attention, I think that’s where the similarities end, Kanye – I don’t care that she’s one of a gazillion celebs to have shot a Monroe inspired photo. Controversial? Yes. Talented? Arguable. Being famous for the sake of being famous (and boning C-grade R&B singers) does not automatically gift you ‘icon’ status and Kim’s got a long way to go to be anywhere near Marilyn’s level, in my opinion. Plus, Kate Upton is cute as hell.
