One of the best things about skateboarding is the people you meet. Nowadays, no matter what city you visit on Earth, you can be sure to hear the sound of urethane screeching on cement. Any time I’ve visited another city on my skateboard, I’ve ended up making friends with people with no other reason then, “Hey, we both skate, let’s kick it!”

That’s really fucking cool when you think about it. I mean, it’s not like you could go half way around the world and bro down with some people you’ve never met before, simply because you’re both wearing New Balance, or you both like drinking beer. There’s something about this four wheel mode of transport that can connect people with literally nothing more in common then both being down for skateboarding.

Which leads me into an introduction to our homeboy Liu from Japan. Liu has been living in Perth for the last few months and we’ve all become quite fond his unique approach to skateboarding, his love of getting crysp and dropping “Papa Seet” calls (sorry, only about 10 people will make sense out of that).

Liu also shoots photos, he has put out a few rad zines from skateboarding throughout his travels around the traps. He’s aiming to put one out on his time spent in Perth, hopefully we can share that one with you on its release!

I enjoy taking photos of Liu, the gallery above is the evidence of that. He’s comfortable in front of the lens, and has one of the flowiest, almost elastic-like styles, when he’s on the board.
