The Queen of Pop is also the queen of out-of-print books, apparently. According a list released recently by bookfinder.com, Madonna’s 1992 coffee table stalwart Sex is the world’s most coveted out-of-print book.

The book was originally released in conjunction with Madonna’s 1992 album Erotica, and went on to top the New York Times bestseller list – selling over 150,000 copies on its first day of release.

The aluminium covered and spiral bound book features images by fashion photographer Stephen Meisel, and was heavily influenced by the style of Helmut Newton. Along with Madonna, other early ’90s icons such as model Naomi Campbell and rappers Vanilla Ice and Big Daddy Kane also feature in the work.

The book gained controversy soon after it’s release, with the Vatican asking for it to be boycotted by Catholics, and Japan banning it’s sale shortly after it was released.

If you managed to get your hands on a copy at the time – and kept it in it’s famous mylar wrapping – then you’ve got yourself a pretty valuable piece of literature, with prices for Sex currently extending upwards of $200 on eBay.
