Australian consumer group, Choice, has conducted another survey to pinpoint Australia’s current downloading habits, as we have been known as one of the worst infringers of illegally downloading content in the world.

The survey found that there are less people downloading TV shows each month with statistics showing that “regular pirates” are down to 17% which was at 23% last year. Less people are saying they “never stream pirated movies or TV shows” which is up to 70% from 67% last year, and more people have paid for streaming services like Netflix, Stan and Presto. The survey also found that a third of those people who have subscribed to these online video services are reporting that they’re “downloading much less often since subscribing to streaming services”.

Although this survey has raised some pretty impressive statistics, the findings are kind of subjective as people lie in the fear of being caught, no one wants to be honest about their downloading habits, heck people download some weird ass shit.

It seems obvious that streaming services like Netflix are decreasing piracy levels, but to an extent, just like Spotify or other music streaming services have helped combat illegal downloading of music, to an extent.
