Annual Hawaiian art event, Pow! Wow! has continued to grow from strength to strength as the years have progressed – and recently they’ve embarked on one of their most ambitious projects to date. A team of artists including Jared Johnston, Defer, Jeff Gress, and Keola Rapozo have been working in partnership with Hawaiian Airlines to transform their ground service vehicles.

The artists drew from Keola’s ‘island camouflage’ design – a camo print consisting of abstracted island silhouettes that invoke the many small islands that make up the state. Defer and Keola also joined forces to collaborate on a large scale portrait of Keola’s wife, repainted as an homage to the airline’s logo. Check out the final result in the gallery above, and keep an eye on the Pow! Wow! site for more info.
