In our final Shocklands PRO-file, we speak to Volcom events and team manager, Shane Azar, who lets us in on beats, down time and lucky charms. Shocklands is part of Skateboarding Australia‘s Pro/Am tour and goes down at Shed 4, Docklands (Melbourne) tomorrow from noon. Get all the details over at SbA’s website.

My name is… Shane Azar

I live… in Dee Why, Sydney.

Besides from skating I also spend time… working at Volcom as team and event manager, and with my son and wifey.

My parents always thought I was going to be… a skater, been doing it since I was a kid.

The trick that took me the longest to stomp was… took me a year to learn how to Kickflip.

In high school I… wish I tried to learn more.

When I’m skating I listen to… depends on what I’m skating and what mood I’m in. Danzig, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep, Biggie, it depends..

The last thing I did that I regret now was… I try and learn from the mistakes I make, so I don’t make them again (rather than wasting my time regretting them.)

To prepare for Shocklands, I will… have been skating everyday trying to build my fitness, as skating comps are all day, and you find you get very tired and worn out by the end.

On the evening before the comp, you’ll find me… eating, drinking, hanging out with other competitors… enjoying myself!

The first thing I’ll do after the comp is… enjoy a nice cold beverage with the rest of the guys.

My lucky charm is… no lucky charms, just wear something comfortable.
