I guess Google grudges aren’t so bad after all – if you’re prepared to grovel your way back to the top of your own search results. The enterprising trio at Rap Genius have offered up an incredibly comprehensive apology and explanation, detailing their “misguided SEO strategies.”

“First of all, we owe a big thanks to Google for being fair and transparent and allowing us back onto their results pages. We overstepped, and we deserved to get smacked.

This post has 2 parts:

2. The story of how we approached the problem of identifying and removing problematic links from the internet and got back on Google.”

It’s a really long blog post, it’s very detailed and I assume RG’s attempt at being as ‘transparent’ as Google was with their demotion. The bottom line is, they are now playing by the rules and are back on top. As you were, internet.
