In ’72 Life Magazine commisioned a photo editorial from a young John Shearer looking at the rise of street gangs in New York. Shearer befriended twenty year old Eddie Cuevas, then president of Bronx gang The Reapers, spending time with him and his affiliates in the neighbourhood.
