Lia Halloran's "Dark Skate" features the amazing use of shutter speed and exposure

Posted By Joseph Ho |

For her Dark Skate series, Lia Halloran photographed images of light which she held whilst skating around various Los Angeles locations. The result depicts a clever use of extended shutter speed and exposure, which we have all seen before, yet by capturing the scene of her movements during these night time skating adventures, this set of work seems to be a touch more personalised. Wonderfully expressed by DCKT contemporary, Halloran’s ‘images have ghost-like connotations, showing action with no trace of a figure and leaving an after-image of where but not of whom.’
