Ever really needed to know what a Northern Elephant Seal sounds like? Possibly our most pertinent discovery of 2013 thus far is the Macaulay Library – ‘the world’s largest and oldest scientific archive of biodiversity audio and video recordings’. Here you can find both audio and video documentations of basically any animal you can think of, conveniently archived by taxonomy with additional options to search via species and browse a selection of staff picks; it’s basically like a nature edition of Spotify. Not to mention it is both thoroughly satisfying and enjoyable to learn things that are important and relevant. Like animal noises. Check it out here.
