The year was 2009 and I was working at Beyond Skate in Cannington at the time. A pair of rollerblades were brought in by a customer. Joel asked for a turn and was quickly encouraged by me to try out some moves. Let’s just say that I promptly noticed how hilarious the whole situation was and things escalated from there. Before you could say “sole grind” I was so busy encouraging Joel to try increasingly dangerous stunts that I had forgotten I was actually meant to be serving customers.

Minutes later and I was explaining to Joel how I think he is ready to drop in on the mini ramp. Joel goes for it and, hilarity ensues. I pushed for another attempt but I think the plywood knocked some sense back into the extreme sportsman.

I uploaded it to my blog the next day without thinking. My boss saw it and I was given “the talk” on my next shift at work. I admitted that it was a stupid move and apologised. I think the thing that saved me was the fact that my boss admitted the comedy value had made him laugh. So the lesson here kids is don’t mess around at work unless you can make your boss laugh.

Check the original video and then watch the dubstep remix, because with a faceplant and rollerblades adding dubstep just seems so right.
