It’s a bit like seeing the Coca-Cola Santa ad and getting that warm, fuzzy feeling, knowing that its nearly Christmas. Nike has unveiled its major Football ad campaign and FIFA enthusiasts can wring their hands with glee, don patriotic colours and bask in that familiar warm glow now that the World Cup is fast approaching.

Directed by Daniel Kleinman, the short film promotes the new national team uniform in one of the more creative and high-spirited Nike/Brazil video campaigns to date. With the tagline ‘Dare to be Brasilian’ and ‘No one plays like us’, the concept came from Brazil’s unique identity and the diversity of the players.

Nike’s chief marketing officer Davide Grasso explains it better: “As their victory on home soil last summer reminded the World, no one plays like Brasil. Their unique brand of phenomenal football is an inspiration to Nike and athletes around the world, and we are celebrating that unique style of play with this new campaign.”

Here, we get a good look at the personalities and styles of Thiago Silva, Neymar, David Luiz, Paulinho, Bernard and coach Felipe Scholari. Without giving too much away, you see the game on the pitch through the players eyes, showcasing visually stunning scenarios and the power of imagination. Expect gangster-noir with singer Ivete Sangalo, animation from artist Rafael Grampá and brief cameo from the man who made the number 9 shirt famous: Ronaldo.

It’s already invading the interwebs with GIFs, so press play to see a prime contender for the Cannes Lion awards. And get excited – World Cup fever is approaching.
