Admittedly this might take a little while to wrap your head around, so let’s take it slow. You can now print digital images, with a magical stick, inside a photograph.

Yes. This insane new device is called the Pixelstick and consists of a long and thin aluminum tube containing hundreds of tiny coloured LED lights, as well as a separate controller and a whole bunch of other fancy things to go with it.

The way it works is by loading images the user has pre-prepared on a program such as Photoshop onto the Pixelstick, and then by waving it across a long exposure photo the image earlier prepared will appear. It also allows the ability to create multiple or layered images in a time-lapse sequence, if animation is your thing. Pixelstick is redefining light painting as a medium, and bringing creativity to a whole new level.

The guys behind Pixelstick are currently hard at work raising funds on Kickstarter to see this baby launched. If you’re interested, a pledge of $300 will get you your very own pre-order edition of the Pixelstick.

Check out the video below for some extra info and to peek at some of the incredible creations made possible by this glorious stick of aluminium.
