Jared Levy has put together an elegant video documenting a mid–Hurricane Sandy New York City, plunged into darkness. “Coming here since I was a little kid, I don’t remember when this stuff was new,” he says. “But the other day, it was new all over again.”

It’s a combination of Levy’s atmospheric images and music and time-lapse footage from Michael Marantz.
