Myspace (with lower-case s) re-launched last night with an impressive celebrity endorsed video and little fanfare, but it’s still early days yet. The schmick  video features Pharrell, Riff Raff, Ryan Hemsworth, Sky Ferreira and many more of the musical variety all partying it up. If you weren’t aware already, the new Myspace is heavily focused on combining music and social media – call it the love-child of Facebook and Spotify.

With music and radio streaming, GIF creator, mobile app, cleaner more interactive layout and a huge musical database. The new Myspace is all about creative individuals connecting with artists and other like-minded music fans on a more personal level, and it’s gunning to become the go-to site for “new musical discovery”. Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia is a fan, stating “I always had a Myspace – always updated it, always connected with my fans. I don’t think they’ll have any problem coming back. It’s built very visually compared to other social media. Sitting in front of Facebook is not the highlight of my day”. You know – if you can’t Swedish House Mafia as a barometer of cultural taste.

If the $20 million celebrity ad hasn’t piqued your interest we’ve also included the 2-minute ‘This Is Myspace’ intro which highlights some features and walks you through from start-up. Otherwise check it out for yourself here.
