My friends and I have a certain word for women who act erratically, impulsively and have a penchant for over-dramatic declarations of their feelings or irrational confrontations at any given time…. SKITTISH. This word often comes to mind when I hear about Azealia Banks. Sure, the girl is young as fuck so she get’s a pass, but damn, she is someone who really needs to learn what the term “Sleep on it” means before she gets the megaphone out.

The newest addition to her skittish rap sheet is via her twitter account where she declared that she no longer wants to be a rapper…

“i never was…. and as soon as i started paying attention to bullshit urban media, i started getting myself in trouble. From now on i’m a vocalist, and will not be associating myself with the “rap game”… or whatever the fuck that means…

She shortly after quit twitter…

“
no more twitter for me*… it makes me entirely too accessible.
Catch me on tumblr… it’ll be more interesting.”

(*Number one symptom of a skittish woman is the deleting of social media channels they previously used a lot. TRUTH!)

While it’s kinda refreshing to see someone unhinged and direct instead of hiding behind press releases that are going through numerous PR channels, it is disappointing to see someone with a heap of talent kinda fuck themselves because they can’t seem to react in rational ways to things that piss them off. Also I checked out her tumblr and I can say that is definitely not more interesting than her constant twitter rage blackouts. I was actually super disappointed by how generic and ‘average 19 year old girl’ steez it was. I’m talking Lana Del Ray gifs and affirming slogans about drinking tea and looking for rainbows (seriously).

Before the deleting of her twitter she trashed her manager Troy Carter (whom she called a “short bald man”) and says she’d rather manager herself or hire a woman “with some really intimidating glasses and a crazy shoe game”. Uh oh.  I’m ALL about sisters doing it for themselves etc but Troy Carter also manages Lady Gaga… pretty sure he has some idea of what he’s doing, at least more than someone who is hired because of their ‘shoe game’.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out… it’s always the skittish ones. That said, being a skittish bitch seemed to have worked out alright for Kanye, so what do I know…
