Rap fans have been pretty hyped for the release of the N.W.A. biopic and the anticipation got even more intense when there was talk of Dr. Dre releasing the long-awaited album Detox. Dre has cleared all speculation by announcing the official album release date on his Apple Music radio show ‘The Pharmacy’, but it’s not the album you were probably expecting. Detox was apparently not good enough to release, so who knows if we’ll ever hear from that project again. But the silver lining is that Dre is dropping Compton, an album inspired by the upcoming movie and features some of his esteemed affiliates—Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Xzibit, Snoop Dogg, and more. No doubt this will all be promoted and made available on Apple iTunes when the time comes, so keep your eyes peeled on Friday August 7.
