If you’ve ever written a half-assed arts grant proposal, then you can take solace this: Drake has been approved for 300,000 Canadian dollars for his music festival OVO Fest, with only two confirmed acts on the bill. Granted, those acts are Drake (duh) and freshly reunited ATLiens OutKast.

The Degrassi High alumnus scooped the funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, a body which has previously supported events like Field Trip (CHVRCHES, The Kills, Broken Social Scene, Interpol, Washed Out) and a whole host of other public arts events.

This seems like the kind of ‘frivolous’ public expenditure that would launch a thousand venomous Andrew Bolt editorials were it to happen in Australia. So nice one, Canada, for proving that you are, as we’ve long suspected, pretty cool.
